HEY, STARFISH! BANKRUPTCY WILL NOT SAVE EVERYONE BUT IT MIGHT HELP YOU A LOT

Paraphrasing Loren Eiseley in the Star Thrower, there was once a boy walking along a beach after a storm. Starfish had been scattered along the sands. The boy knew the starfish would die, so he began to throw the starfish back into the sea. An old man came along and saw what the child was doing. He asked why he was doing that. The boy replied that he was saving the starfish. But the old man said, your attempts are useless as there are thousands. He said that the boy’s attempts did not mean anything. The boy thought about this, looking at the starfish in his hands. Well, the boy said, it means the world to this one, and he threw the starfish back into the welcoming sea.

I think you will agree with me that that thought is just beautiful. We cannot TODAY fix our health care system, our student loan system, or our financial system. We can today help some people in their financial lives and that is what we try to do.
